HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

By noon, it was all gone, but it sure looked great while it was here!

We ate great hamburgers at Chicken Oil and then headed to campus.

We then drove to Lufkin where we put Christmas flowers on our parents graves.
After we took Jim back to his house, we began our trip back to Lake Conroe via a different way. We were listening to a book on tape that we had previously started and got sleepy so we pulled onto Friday Road...love that name...and found a spot on this muddy 1 lane road to take a 15 minute nap. This beautiful mushroom was nearby and we had to get a picture.
We sat in "The Zone" so we had a different view of the game. Here is a shot looking at where we normally sit...on the 3rd deck.
and through the woods...

from Grandmother's house we go...
the car knows the way...
I can't make the rest of the poem by Lydia Marie Child work!
We're now in Texas for a couple of football games and for lunch, we stopped at a Texas icon...second only to Whataburger.

Most of our pictures of Mike, when we were in Japan, are on slides and not easily accessible. He was in the Army during the Vietnam War. Here are a couple that I could find. The baby is Kelly and don't you just love the wig with the maternity dress!

All of these beautiful leaves are mostly gone due to the day-long heavy rains we have had today. The ground looks colorful, but most of the trees are nearly bear.
The season's last soccer game.
