Heading Home

On Friday morning, the Texas crew headed to their house and we started our trip back to TN. This is picture from the balcony at our condo at Lake Conroe.

We listened to Deadly Promise by Knott...a good cowboy story. We stopped in Valdalia, LA for a walk along the Mississippi River...

We drove to Jackson, MS to spend the night and then drove home today. Another book on tape...Lost City by Clive Cussler.

Happy Thanksgiving

We didn't celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving, but we sure did have fun.

We had breakfast taquitos and then went outside for a walk and some playtime before it was time to get ready for the drive to College Station.

We ate great hamburgers at Chicken Oil and then headed to campus.

Back to East Texas

This morning we took a walk around the condo complex and then went to IHOP for breakfast.

We then drove to Lufkin where we put Christmas flowers on our parents graves.

After we took Jim back to his house, we began our trip back to Lake Conroe via a different way. We were listening to a book on tape that we had previously started and got sleepy so we pulled onto Friday Road...love that name...and found a spot on this muddy 1 lane road to take a 15 minute nap. This beautiful mushroom was nearby and we had to get a picture.
We had Mexican food for dinner and then came back to the condo.

A&M-Baylor Football Game

This morning we drove to College Station for the Baylor-A&M football game.

We sat in "The Zone" so we had a different view of the game. Here is a shot looking at where we normally sit...on the 3rd deck.

It's harder to see the formations that the band makes from this part of the stadium, but this is the T at the end of their performance.

After the win by A&M, we went down to the field.

Texas Trip

Over the river...

and through the woods...

from Grandmother's house we go...

the car knows the way...

I can't make the rest of the poem by Lydia Marie Child work!

We're now in Texas for a couple of football games and for lunch, we stopped at a Texas icon...second only to Whataburger.

We had supper with Sid and Deb at the Lufkin Bar B Q Bar before drving to Lake Conroe where we'll be spending the week at a condo. Jim came with us so we can all go to the Baylor-A&M game tomorrow in College Station.

Another Season Has Begun

Basketball season officially began this week.

Rheagan's 4 & 5 grade elementary team played in a pre-season tournament and won their first game and will continue the tournament this week end.

The CHS Lady Raiders played in a Hall of Fame game against the Baylor School in Chattanooga and both the JV and varsity girls won their games.

The Lady Flames of Lee University played this week, also, and beat Truett-McConnell.

Good luck to these teams as they continue their seasons.

Veteran's Day

In honor of those who have served our country in the military.
Here are some pictures of my Dad who was in the Army Air Corps in WWII.

I couldn't find any pictures of my father-in-law who served in the Navy during WWII.

Most of our pictures of Mike, when we were in Japan, are on slides and not easily accessible. He was in the Army during the Vietnam War. Here are a couple that I could find. The baby is Kelly and don't you just love the wig with the maternity dress!

Recent Activities

Here are some shots of Fall and related activities.

Note...no training wheels!

All of these beautiful leaves are mostly gone due to the day-long heavy rains we have had today. The ground looks colorful, but most of the trees are nearly bear.

The season's last soccer game.

More Football

On Friday night we enjoyed a Carne Guisada dinner, sponsored by the 4H, before we went to the Odem-Taft football game. The game was a hard hitting well fought game. I found the bands performances to be a little different than we are used to in that there were cheerleaders and football players participating the bands activities.

On Saturday, we drove to College Station to watch A&M beat Iowa State. the band did an exceptional job, the fly over was by F16s out of Birmingham and flown by former students of A&M, and the weather was great.
