And Then the Rains Came Down

Today we had 4 or 5 rain showers with a little sun thrown in for good measure.

Today was our day with Tripp and we did lots of fun things...inside and out.

Some of the plants really have enjoyed all of the rain we have had this month...

but some of them are water-logged!

During a no-rain period, Mike was able to plant some Stella D'Oros. He said that the ground was saturated!

It is the peak of strawberry season, so this is our dessert tonight and we have them for breakfast and snack time.

PS...Congrats to our friends John and Courtney who are expecting a baby in Dec.

Time in Texas

Last week, we went to Texas for the main purpose of watching the boys play baseball, but we did much more while we were there.

Our first afternoon there found J at baseball practice and P had his first swim team practice.

On Friday, K fixed chocolate-chip pancakes before the boys went to school. Mike and the SIL went to see the empty fields and file some paperwork. K had things to do at school and do payroll. We met Bob Bob for lunch along with Liz and her Dad.
We drove out to see the windmills that are being erected.

Friday evening, the boys had swim practice before the rains came. It poured at their house, and then the sun came out and gave us this gorgeous rainbow. (Now realize that they have had little or no measurable rain since November; we come and it rains 3 of the 4 days we are there!)

It didn't rain at the baseball field, so J was able to get his game in. Keeping his eye on the ball!

It was a winning game, but time to take the equipment home.

Dad is the assistant coach and they always have duties.

On Saturday, sil had to go to a booster club activity, but the rest of us, including the other grandparents and Liz went to Banquete so that P could play a game. This is a very small community about 30 minutes away and has a convenience store and that's about it!

P, before he put his "game face" on!

P pitched and was 2 for 3 at the plate and his team won.

J was really into the excitement of the game!

After the game, we stopped for wonderful pizza before K and P joined sil at the booster club function, which was a team roping event. Again, it rained, there was another rainbow and then they went to the club sponsered dance. J enjoyed the time with his animals.

On Sunday, we went to church and then to town for a great hamburger.

After driving around in town and seeing the bay, we drove to check on a couple of the fields. There sould be cotton in this field, knee high, but the seed hasn't even come up!

We were able to get a little closer on this drive to the windmills.

Container gardening is the way to go.

All too soon, it was time for us to head back to TN after a good visit.

Saturday's Activities

This morning Mike had a meeting to go and I worked on some "favors" for an afternoon cook out. I found this idea on Bakerella but mine were no where near this good.

Then it was time of Rheagan's 2 soccer games.

After playing 3 periods, the rains came and the game was stopped and the 2nd game was cancelled.

So then it was time for Allie's graduation cook out. She had graduated from Lee earlier in the morning. Here we are with the college graduate.

This is Tripp and Hero, otherwise known as Brandon. We had watched him in a CHS playoff baseball game last night. Cleveland scored 9 runs in the last inning to win!

Tonight was prom for CHS and Brandon had to get a trim from mom!

Fun Times

This past week end brought about a couple of memorable events.

On Saturday, Rheagan had 2 performances for her dance recital...one at 11:0a.m. and the other at 5:00p.m. She always enjoys getting made up and having on her costumes.

These pictures are from the dress rehearsal on Thursday.

Tripp was watching the dancers through his "spy scope".

Here are some pictures from Saturday.

On Sunday afternoon, we had the privilege of attending "The Day of 1000 Stories" which was a tribute to Pat Summitt and her 1000 wins with the Lady Vols. Karen enjoyed renewing friendships with coaches, players and fans that were part of her life while she was a manager with the Lady Vols. It was truly a sea of orange!
