The Final Installment

Our first view of Niagra Falls was from the window in our room!  The view was truly breath-taking.

The next day, we took a tour and got to enjoy the falls from several points of view.

We left Niagra Falls and went to Niagra on the Lake where we saw Ragtime at the Shaw Festival. This was a powerful musical portrait of an era of innovation and unrest set to the music of ragtime.  Outstanding.

We walked down to the gorge where we could get up close to the raging Niagra River.

The wine vineyards went for miles and miles…the vines were just beginning to leaf out.

As you can see, it was a great week and we had a wonderful time.

More travels

Another day of travel through PA and NY found us enjoying a state park…

lunch…

and ice cream at the Super Freeze.

We also made a stop at the Theodore Roosevelt National Historic Site.  It is the house where he was inaugurated after McKinley had been assassinated.  We had a great tour and the inter-active displays kept us there for quite a while.

 

Then we made our way into Canada…I got this picture right before the border guard told me to put down the camera!

Road Trip

We recently took a road trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada with several stops along the way.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was our first major stop…

We drove to Mentor, Ohio and stopped at the President James Garfield Historic Site where D got a stamp for his passport just before the doors closed.  We were able to walk around the grounds before those gates were closed as well.

Then we went on to Erie, PA. where we visited a lighthouse…

Brother’s Retirement Party

We recently celebrated my brother’s retirement after 41 years at Atkinson Candy Company. 

His church honored him during the service and then at a bar-b-queue lunch.

They made a delicious, as well as cute, cake that had the company's logo incorporated as well as cookies.

Visitor

We recently had Mike’s brother visit with us for a few days.  It’s always good to have him come to see us.  After playing golf for 2 days, it was time for some serious projects!  We had a rain barrel that needed to be readied for rain…just hope we get some.

 

They were using an antique drill that had been their Dad’s many years ago. Fortunately, no one was electrocuted in the process!

Success!  Water ran out of the gutter into the barrel.
