Fun Day
The day started out with visiting with a former neighbor and dear friend who prepared a delicious breakfast.
We then drove to College Station where we met the rest of the Aggie family...they were handing our bandannas!
The last home game...against Nebraska...
There were 30,000+ students tickets sold and 90,079 total in attendance...both numbers the largest in Texas A&M history. A night game at Kyle Field is always exciting but this game was electrifying!!

When the game was over and A&M had won 9-3, the field became alive with students. No one wanted to leave the stadium!!

Change of Pace
No golf, but a day of "shopping"; if you know us, you know that this really means walking in stores and leaving after purchasing nothing!
We did stop for a late lunch of chicken fried steak and fries with gravy.
After we cleaned our plates, we rewarded ourselves with dessert!!

Fore!
Today we played again; it was cool when we started but warmed up nicely.
After playing 9 holes, we took a "break" and went to Rudy's and had some bar-b-que. This is all that was left when we finished!
We had some guests who joined us for lunch...
As we were finishing the second 9 holes, we saw this little family.
Near the clubhouse, we saw several adult Egyptian geese.
We did some laundry tonight and watched basketball and football on TV.

More Mexican Food
We enjoyed the sights, sounds, and smells of the River Walk and the Alamo.
The boat ride is an interesting experience.
It was a short walk over to the Alamo where 30 Tennessee Volunteers gave their life at the battle of the Alamo in 1836.
There was an exhibit of artifacts from the movie The Alamo.
You were not allowed to take pictures in the chapel, museum or any of the exhibits.

We went to the Mexican Market where we had Mexican food!! It was delicious.

Another Day of Fun
After a breakfast of cereal and fruit, we enjoyed leisurely reading the paper and getting ready to play golf.
The resort has 3 nine-hole courses on the property. We played the Lakes and the Oaks courses today. These are well maintained courses and each of them has plenty of water and Live Oak trees. The views along the course were magnificent.
The tee markers were really unique! Thoughout the round of play, we saw lots of squirrels, a large flock of Killdeers, a family of ducks on one of the ponds and many Mockingbirds.
After playing, we went into town and ate at Tomatillos where the food was delicious.
We came back to watch the basketball game between the women of #2 Baylor and #1UConn.

We walked around the property where we are staying and while we were getting alittle exercise we saw these interesting things.
This is a cactus growing out of a tree!
After meeting K for a dinner of Mexican food, we went to see P play his first 8th grade basketball game.
He is carrying on the family tradition by wearing his mother's number 32. That is also the number that Rheagan has worn for 4 years.

Time Away
We spent a couple of days driving and finally got to Waco! That evening we decided to go to the Ferrell Center and watch the Baylor basketball teams play.
Brittney Griner is the real deal at 7 feet tall. She was dunking in warm ups! Both teams won their games by large margins.
The next morning we had a wonderful visit with Ken and Diane. the food was delicious but the fellowship was even better. From the picture it appears that Diane has grown since our Baylor days, but let's credit the steps in front of their house!
When evening came, it was time for the Baylor-A&M football game. I would be a winner no matter the outcome of the game, but Mike's Aggies prevailed in a great game.
Sunday found us worshipping at Calvary Baptist Church where we were member during our time in Waco. The remodeling of the church as given them a new entrance and major updates inside.
But the stained glass window that was unveiled while we were there is still the focal point in the sanctuary.
In spite of the changes, including new people, we still found some friends that we recognized after being gone for 28 years. It was good to have a chance to renew some friendships.

Mike and I agree that the generation of the WWII vets was The Greatest Generation.
