A Variety of Activities

I want to share a variety of activities that the grandchildren have been involved in recently.

T is playing basketball…only still shots; I’m not good at action shots!

Last Day

We have been home for several days but I wanted to finish up our time there.  We played Pickle Ball for 2 hours solid before we changed our mode of transportation.  We rode our bikes to eat and then took an extended ride around the island.  We even got the owner of a deli/bakery to open up so we could get more desserts!  Along the ride we saw an alligator enjoying the sun.IMG_0912

We rode through the PreserveIMG_0913

and saw more alligators as we were leaving.IMG_0915

Our time away was wonderful but now it’s time to be back to reality!

Exercise So We Can Eat

We walked on the beach today and then rode our bikes to Kenny B’s for a late lunch.  This is a New Orleans themed resturant with a unique wall mural depicting NO.  An unusual place to eat with good food.002

We took an extended bike ride on our way back to the condo.

We played Qwirkle this evening, worked on the jigsaw puzzle, played Words with Friends and Phrases and were having withdrawals from having a college football game on TV!

Exercise Day

After breakfast this morning we drove across this island to play Pickleball.  We were under the impression that they started playing at 9:00 but after getting there, we learned that they are now playing at 10:00.  Also, we thought that we would be playing inside, but no, it was outside!  Brr!  Thank goodness, we had worn some warmer clothes.  We got a net, set it up and started playing instead of just standing around waiting. Closer to 10:00, people started arriving and soon we had 23 people playing!IMG_0884We played for 2 1/2 hours. This group plays everyday…we’ll see when we will go back before the week is over.

We drove back to the condo, added some more winter gear and rode our bike for 3 miles to Sea Shack where we had lunch.IMG_0886The sign on their window says it all…IMG_0887

We then rode to Piggly Wiggly to restock the pantry.IMG_0890

We played Chickenfoot, worked on the jigsaw puzzle, snacked for supper and got ready for the Alabama-Notre Game game.

Continuing the Vacation

We had a great walking tour of Charleston; the historian was very knowledgeable and informative.  Our 2 hour tour took us by many interesting points of historical significance.

This type of house is unique to Charleston. It is called a single house; it features multi-story construction, one room wide, sideways to  the street. The main purpose of the piazzas or porches is to keep the afternoon sun off of the house.IMG_0875

We also saw the first First Baptist Church in America which was started in 1620.IMG_0870

On Sunday morning we went to FBC Hilton Head and had communion.IMG_0881

For lunch we went to Skillets but were too hungry to get a picture before we started digging in!IMG_0877

We got our bikes for the week but it was a rainy, cool afternoon so we stayed in and watched the Lady Vols beat GA and the A&M women beat Arkansas.  We played board games and started a new jig-saw puzzle.

Happy New Year 2013

We hope you and yours have a very Happy New Year.  May the Lord bless you as you go through the year with Him being your guide.

We rang in the new year last night at 7:00 p.m. when a golf ball was dropped from the lighthouse at Harbour Town at Hilton Head where we are spending some time. It was geared to families with children or senior adults.  There was another drop at midnight, but we were long asleep by then!IMG_20121231_214903

Yesterday we played putt-putt while the real golfers were at Shipyard playing.

We had a chance to get in some bike riding.

The Polar Bear Plunge was a day early for them…this is an outside pool! It was still cold even though it wasn’t the ocean.

Today we fixed breakfast in the condo and this afternoon we had black-eyed peas, collard greens, onions, ham and cornbread.

It has been a day of bike riding and then watching bowl games!  The family bowl pool doesn’t have a runaway winner yet; in fact we are all struggling.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
