We want to wish you a very
Happy Turkey Day
wherever you may be today.
We had a wonderful Sunday in Waco visiting our former church.
We arrived a little early and were able to take a picture of the sanctuary before SS was over.
We got to visit with several friends,D.G.(Pat was not there; she was not feeling well) and David and Gayle. Their new pastor if from Columbia, TN and a delightful young man.
The service was very enjoyable; we sang from the hymnal, had a child dedication, sang the Doxology, and has a sermon from their youth pastor. The Lord’s Supper was served at the front of the sanctuary.
After lunch we drove to our farm and by some of the rental houses.
We had hoped to visit with D but she was not feeling well; I dropped a gift on her front porch and ran, just in case her germs were coming under the front door!!
On Monday, we drove to Dallas and had lunch with my cousin M and her husband B. Enjoyed catching up with their boys and their lives.
Later we met some friends from our days in Japan, B and C. The Mexican food that we enjoyed was nearly as good as the fellowship. It’s been over 30 years since we have seen them and they really haven’t changed much at all. We had to leave when the restaurant was closing!
We drove to Texas and along the way, we stopped in West Monroe, LA. If you watch Duck Dynasty then you know where we were and if you don’t watch it, it’s on A&E Wed. nights at 10:00 Eastern.
As we were driving near Shreveport we saw a B52 in the air.
On Saturday we were A&M for the football game against Sam Houston State University. First was the Spirit Walk…3 of the yell leaders are civilians and 2 of them are in the Corps.Coach Sumlin…
Lots of big guys…
We watched the March In from a different perspective this time…
It was time for the game to begin. The Fly-Over…time for prayer…
halftime and the Block T with the band and the entire Corps of Cadets…
Our morning began with a stop at Krispy Kreme…how could we pass up the Hot Now sign!!
We took a driving tour of the University of Alabama…
Wow, it sure is a big campus!!!
By the time we had finished riding through the campus…our doughnuts had diminished!
We drove to Birmingham and had thought about going to the zoo, but after making a wrong turn, we changed our minds and decided it was time for lunch…
and then drove back to TN. and along the way we enjoyed the fall foliage that is past its prime but still pretty to see.
A great week end for all!
This week end we took R and went to the Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M at Starkville. We got to walk around some before the game.
After getting into the stadium, we saw the bulldog,
Bowtie was walking around to see the fans and we got to have R’s picture made with him!
The Aggies outscored the Bulldogs…and the team celebrated by singing The War Hymn!
We drove through Columbus, MS and saw the home where Tennessee Williams was born. It was a great little, old Southern town.
before we got back to the hotel in Tuscaloosa.(thus the elephants)
More of the next day tomorrow.
