Talking to the Animals

This morning before a breakfast of chocolate chip waffles, Jackson fed the birds who had depleted their food supply.

Rheagan and Tripp came and ate breakfast with us and then we piled in the "family van" and drove to Knoxville so we could go to the zoo. There was an 80% chance for rain, but it turned out to be a great day...partly cloudy and not too hot. Everyone had their favorite animals to see and I think that we saw every exhibit there!

We stopped at Long John Silver's for fish and chicken for a late lunch and then headed home.

After supper, Jackson went home with Rheagan to spend the night.

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

This morning Mike played golf and the rest of us ate cinnamon rolls, played outside, watered plants and blew lots of bubbles with the bubble wands.

We went swimming around 11:00 a.m. which was about when Mike finished playing.

He joined us at the pool and Mack came also. After swimming and diving, we ordered lunch and then came home for a rest.

We played board games before we ate pizza for supper. Then we watch Jump In on the Disney Channel and then the Halls went home. After Jackson had his bath, we tried to talk and see his parents on the computer, but we weren't able to work out all the "bugs". We could talk and they could see and hear us; better luck next time.

They Came Back...

Jackson and Rheagan flew in from Texas today. They enjoyed their layover in Houston where they got to eat snacks, play games, and watch movies.

We were so glad to see them...especially Tripp

Payne went to baseball camp at A&M today. Kelly took him and Jon took the other travelers to the airport in Corpus. After she had left they learned that there is a hurricane in the Gulf that has potential of heading their way. This is not something that needs to happen at this particular time in the cotton growing season.

We played,

ate Subway for supper, and then the Halls went to their house while we did things here before it was time for bed. Jackson wanted to catch some fire flys, but there weren't too many out tonight...maybe the cool, damp weather was keeping them quite.

Early Morning Golf

This morning Mike and I teed off around 8:00a.m. for a great round of golf. There was dew on the grass, long morning shadows, singing birds, and scampering squirrels. Mike was pleased with his round and I enjoyed being outside!
We came back to find Karen and Mack here...trying to stay out of the housekeepers way. Mack had surgery on his eyes yesterday...a type of lasic... and is heavily medicated so he slept. His eyes seem to be healing nicely. Tripp had spent the night with Courtney so they all met for lunch at Jenkins.
This evening after supper, we picked peas from the garden and then Tripp came home with us to spend the night... the carpet in his room is being cleaned in the morning.
No photos for the past 2 days...we'll try harder.

Fruits and Vegetables

Mike played golf this morning while I had an appointment for an eye checkup and then I got my hair cut. After lunch, Mike shelled peas from the garden.

Later this afternoon, Karen and I took Tripp and went to Calhoun where we picked blueberries. Tripp ate as many as he picked!

And They're Off....

It was a real early morning...like getting up at 4:30a.m. and meeting Karen and Rheagan a little before 5:00 so we could drive to Chattanooga for Payne and Rheagan to catch a 6:40a.m. flight to Houston and then on to Corpus.

They we both excited about getting to travel together. They got there just fine. I came back home and took a nap before hitting the Y which I haven't done in over 2 weeks! Mike went straight there and got his work out done. He came back and mowed and fixed a broken pipe and then shelled peas after llunch.

It has been a little too quite around here today but maybe by tomorrow, I'll be ready to go again!

Slow Sunday

Mike went to church early this morning to usher. Payne and I came later; about the time church started the bottom dropped out. We got about 1/2" of rain as the day went by. Payne went to Bible Study with us and since Mike had to run the sound and record the lesson, we had to sit at the front. Payne was very attentive and not squirmy. We got several compliments on his behavior. We went to the CCC for lunch and about the time we were through, the power went off and a little while later, the fire alarm began. On our way home, we saw 2 firetrucks on their way out there. We are supposing that the place didn't burn down!

We read the paper while Payne and Rheagan watched a movie on the Disney Channel. Kelly called and we got online for a video chat with the folks in Odem. We all watched National Treasure and then had stack ups for dinner before Payne went home with Rheagan. While he was gone, Mike cleaned up the kitchen while I packed Payne's bag. We went out to get him so we could all get to bed early...we are leaving for Chattanooga at 5:00a.m. so Payne and Rheagan can catch the 6:40a.m. flight to Houston and then on to Corpus Christi. They'll get there about 9:45a.m. Texas time.

We've had a great time having Payne here. He is becoming a young man and we can certainly see his maturing. It's hard to believe that he's going to Jr. High.
