From the Old to the New
This morning was the last day for services in the "old" facility.
We had a wonderful service with great singing...including this quartet, and inspiring preaching.
Many in our SS class were dressed in their "walking" shirts that we would be wearing for the 4.5 mile walk to the new facility.
There were approximately 1500 people who signed up to walk and I believe that most of them did so. The Lord blessed us with wonderful weather. Before we left the downtown property, the pastor had us turn and face the building and remember our time there. The Shofar, ram's horn, was blown, a prayer was spoken and then he said "let's go home".

We are heading up the hill for the last 1/2 mile of the walk.
People are finally on the property with the new building in the background.
A special time was held in the commons area...
The Shofar was blown again and a Messianic Jew gave blessing in Hebrew that he translated into English.
Two precious members who are both 103 years old then began our time of reading the Bible through and praying. They went into the sanctuary and we watch them on TV monitors in the commons area. This will continue 24/7 until midnight Friday.

New Experience
We had the great opportunity to attend the Atlanta NASCAR race last Sunday. This was a wonderful chance to see the race from a unique perspective. M & K have a good friend who is a sales rep for the trailers and buses that the drivers use and he was kind enough to get us Hot Passes. This allowed us to not only go to the pits and garages before the race but we were also able to be in the pit area during the race.
After getting our passes, we were ready to WALK!!
Our first stop was getting souvenirs...
When we were at the merchandise trailers, there was entertainment...these guys were real dare devils!
I think that maybe we were the only people in this parking lot that did not have a tent for tailgating.
We are still outside the track. We were walking back to the car to put stuff away and get our ear protection.
After we got inside the track, we ran into some friends from Cleveland as were walking around in the pit area.
Some of the pit crew were gluing on the lug nuts.
We we got the the garages, we found this crew stretching.
This is the Speed Network, and other networks as well, reporter; he had lots of make up even in the heat.
We were on our feet from 3:00p.m. until 10:00p.m. Lots of other people were doing the same...there's no place to sit and rest in the pits and garages. We were hoping one of the drivers would invite us into their trailers, but none did!
As it got closer to race time, the drivers began making their way to their cars. I would tell you who these guys are, but I didn't know them all, so you can guess who they are!

After the drivers are introduced, they ride around the track in a truck waving to the crowd.
Getting to sit on the wall of pit row!
National Anthem...
Great flyover...
High 5's all around
We didn't have a good view of the starter and his green flag but this says it was time for the race to begin .
Not only is it loud, but you could feel the roar of the cars in your chest. The smell of burning rubber added to another sensory experience.
The blurry car was all that the camera was able to pick up and that's about what we saw as well.

We went to Texas this past week end to see some football.
Of course, we had to get a bite to eat when we got off of the plane!
And, yes, we ate the entire thing!!
We were in Lufkin for the Friday night high school game, but I forgot to take the camera, so there are no pictures from that game. Lufkin won handily against Tyler Lee.
Saturday morning we got up and went to College Station where we met K, J, P, and J with a couple of additions for lunch at Wings and More, and again, I forgot the camera. But we certainly did have a table full of delicious food.
It was time to head to the Texas A&M campus where we went to the dorm room of their nephew who is a freshman. Some things never change...dorm rooms are still small!
Time for a traditional picture...the boys are really growing. J is now 10 and P is 14...and taller than I am.
Getting to see the team walk in is always a highlight, but then everything at A&M is a highlight!
